“The Aquatic Invasive Species Program intends to award funding for its 2016 State Interstate Aquatic Nuisance Species Management Plan (SIANSMP) grant program in accordance with Section 1204 of the Nonindigenous Aquatic Prevention and Control Act. The Act directs the Service to provide cost share grants for the implementation of SIANSMPs that have been approved by the ANS Task Force. These ANS Plans identify technical, enforcement, or financial assistance activities needed to eliminate or reduce the environmental, public health and safety risks associated with aquatic nuisance species (also known as aquatic invasive species). The SIANSMPs focus on feasible, cost effective management practices and measures to be undertaken by the States and cooperating entities to prevent and control ANS infestations in an environmentally sound matter.” (grants.gov)
